What is Inquiry in SIT Meditation

“Inquiry”  in SIT Meditation is the internal investigation into how contrast and compare processes are a play in a person’s mind and what organizes their thoughts in one direction or another. It is an active meditation process in which the meditator learns to identify and recognize the life-producing or life-destroying direction of thought patterns and trace them back to their “seed memories” where they can be acknowledged and transcended in exchange for the more secure foundation of the Spacious Self.  SIT Meditation employs both western analytic processes (a modified Socratic Method) and eastern holistic experiencing.  Unlike many meditation practices, SIT Meditation does not require that the practitioner try to simply witness or empty their mind, but instead directs the practitioner toward active inquiry and an expanded sense of peace.   RETURN TO HOME
